ORIGINAL PITCH


INITIAL PROBLEM:


The zine is an expressive outlet for young creatives, and it is important to have a growing audience so I can extend the platform to more. Additionally, the content of the zine itself provides representation and storytelling of tattoos in a new and powerful light, and these stories also would benefit from a platform.

USER TESTING:


Conducting interviews with as many people as I could at a Pop-Up I was a vendor at in March. I was handing out magazines and posters, and through that learning the opinions of the community through conversation.

There is no central search source for those looking to get a tattoo. A database

REFINED PROBLEM:


At this point in the process I decided to resturcutre my focus on JUST spotlighting artists and developing a tattoo artist index/resource on the website. 


The tattoo community lacks a centralized source of information and community. DECAL has the opportunity to be a leading voice in the space by highlighitng tattoo artists and developing a list of featured tattooer, further developing information democracy and community. 

This will be accomplished through a new series on the platform called the SPOTLIGHT SERIES where every month a new tattoo artist is highlighted. They are nominated by the community, and get a photoshoot, interview, and more on both the Instagram and Website.
